Tim Wallis, an independent and highly experienced Mediator and Solicitor, is director and sole shareholder of Expedite Resolution Ltd.
Qualifications: Solicitor: 1978. Mediator: 1994.
Experience: Legal work: Initially personal injury work for trade union claimants in the heavy industries of the north east. Subsequently EL PL RTA litigation for defendants and insurers. Commercial litigation (including partnership disputes and chancery litigation), employment disputes, education matters, clinical negligence claims, other professional negligence claims and professional disciplinary hearings.
Legal career: Crutes Law Firm. Partner 1981 – 2006. posts held: Head of Insurance Litigation Department, Joint Managing Partner, Senior Partner and Chairman.
Experience: Mediation: Matters mediated since 1994 include commercial disputes, professional negligence claims, property matters, employment disputes and insurance/personal injury claims. Between 2002 and 2005, at the request of the Civil Justice Council, Tim co-mediated 3 "industry agreements" between personal injury practitioners and the insurance industry. These related to predictable costs and success fees in personal injury cases and had a value of millions of pounds to the industry.
Memberships: Founder member of the Civil Justice Council, chairs its ADR Committee. American Bar Association (Dispute Resolution Section). Formerly a member of the Law Society's Civil Litigation and ADR Committees. Formerly a director of ADR Net Ltd, part of ADR Group. President of FOIL, 2002.

Publications: Tim writes on ADR and mediation for Sweet and Maxwell (ADR sections in “The Litigation Practice” and “The Civil Litigation Handbook”). He has also written many articles and lectured on mediation (for example at “The White Book Conference”, London, 1 December 2006). On two occasions Tim has visited North America to research the use and development of ADR.
Tim counts patience and indefatigability as his two main mediator qualities and says that he owes these to the fact that they are regularly tested and honed by the burden of his football team, Nottingham Forest! Sailing, skiing, cycling and theatre are other leisure pursuits.

CV for Frances McCarthy

Frances McCarthy is head of the Personal Injury Department, handling accident and disease work, and a senior partner at Pattinson & Brewer Solicitors. She acts exclusively for Claimants and has represented victims in most of the major disasters in recent years. She specialises in workplace accidents, occupational disease claims and has extensive experience handling injuries of maximum severity, fatalities, asbestos related claims, clinical negligence cases and other areas of personal injury.

Frances is recognised as a leader in her field in both the Legal 500 and Chambers directories and acknowledged by peers as "robust and tough, but sensible - a fighter and knowledgeable with it."

Frances has managed successful appeals to the European Court of Justice on the question of equal treatment in matters of social security as well as being a regular lecturer and broadcaster on personal injury matters. She is a joint editor of Jordans' new Personal Injury book, a contributor to the 'Brown Book' Civil Procedure Rules and she also sits on the editorial board of 'Journal for Personal Injury Law'.

Frances is a member of the working party set up by Lord Woolf for pre action protocols. She is a past President of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), a former member of the Civil Justice Council and a senior fellow of the College of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Frances and her husband, a journalist, have three boys and she believes this makes her an expert on all matters sporting. She is a keen supporter of Munster in particular and Irish Rugby in general.
